Not Fade Away is definitely ahead? They took a Buddy Holly song and gave it a Bo Diddley rhythm; among them, it seems to me the least innovative. Listen to "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" in the Rolling Stones' version from the 5x5 album (1964). Or Little Red Rooster (Willie Dixon), the first song with a slide guitar to reach number one on the charts in the UK.
