Among other things, pretend you don't know there's a page on Van Halen by Scaruffi, because now reading it you can actually feel the copy/paste of your comments.

And then no one said that Van Halen invented tapping or vibrato, but after him, everyone uses vibrato the Van Halen way and tapping the Van Halen way.

In my opinion, you haven't even listened to the album. If for you the riff of I'm The One is in the vein of Zeppelin/Stones, then you haven't listened to it at all. Scaruffi has a page on Van Halen; I just checked, so go read it yourself so you can form an opinion on this record that you can claim as your own. As for the rest, giving this album a 1 means either you haven't listened to it and want to act all pretentious and faux-alternative, or you have listened to it and want to act all pretentious and faux-alternative.

More than an acidic tribute to Hendrix's acidic improvisations, it seems to me a clear and straightforward plagiarism of Little Wing :D

and then Madonna has nothing to do with it because her influence on the Britney-style pop tarts has been purely superficial, which has little to do with music, whereas with Van Halen we’re talking mainly about technical and musical influence

The very fact that they inspired someone, even if they were just singer-whores, means they were original. Because even in their exhibitionism, in the excesses of their technique, they were the absolute first, and therefore not trivial. They were also in very bad taste; I also find that little besides this album saves their career, but that doesn’t mean a priori that they haven't been influential. It may also be fashionable to denigrate people like Steve Vai, Guns N' Roses, Satriani, and who knows how many other artists from the 80s, but it is undeniable that the starting point for almost everyone was precisely this album right here. Then you might say that it’s not an honor to brag about this influence, but I tell you that managing to reinvent the electric guitar (the ELECTRIC GUITAR) at the end of the 70s is indeed a turning point.

Give me just one name of a hard rock/metal guitarist who came after that doesn't use vibrato and tapping like Van Halen, just one. And then regarding the issue of well-known riffs, could you tell me where you've already heard the riff from "I'm The One"? I would be curious to hear concrete examples of what you're claiming, not just these tired old general discussions. We all know Scaruffi's opinion, I wanted to know more.
