Nirvana MTV Unplugged In New York DVD

Uncomparable is the comparison with AIC's Unplugged: this is a concert with almost half cover songs, while the other is entirely made up of the band's own tracks. Two concerts in their own right, equally beautiful. Rather, I find the Pearl Jam Unplugged inferior, just to stay within the Seattle realm, well played but hastily recorded during the Ten tour to capitalize on its success. They had little material, and thus Pearl Jam's Unplugged ends up being an acoustic version of Ten, which, moreover, is not even Vedder and company's best album. A heartfelt, sincere review, but rather rhetorical. No offense.

Yosif, I'm sorry but your argument about the success of Pantera is frankly contradictory. You may not like them, and that’s legitimate, but why condemn them if "they've sold more than the little MTV groups we rate 1-1"? According to this reasoning, we should put down countless bands and albums... And would you really dismiss, just to give a few examples outside the metal context, "Dark Side Of The Moon" or "Led Zeppelin IV" just because they sold tens of millions of copies?

I quote Michoos What in every way possible. A group for thirteen-year-olds mad at the world??!! We’re not talking about Caliban or any metalcore band, it's Pantera!

In my opinion, this is one of those countless unpretentious bands that eventually become tiresome due to their complete lack of evolution. And what irritates me the most is that they draw inspiration from models that are mediocre in themselves: in the review, the Metallica of Load were rightly mentioned. But why the hell do they have to be inspired by Load?! I've never heard anything exceptional from them. Every now and then a decent and nice song, but not much more. Not enough, in my opinion.

Thank you all :-) @47: yeah, look, I didn't even mention the French version of Can't Change Me, a true disaster!

I'm not convinced either. Moreover, far from being a moralist, she's always there showing her tits (I've seen it in at least three videos)... And then she also emphasizes the distance she's taken from Britney and Christina Aguilera. It feels quite fake to me.

In my opinion, the first Audioslave album isn't that bad. It's a decent album with a few good songs, but the follow-ups didn't live up to the first one. A respectable record and two mediocre ones don't make a great band, which was already overrated even before the release of the first album due to Cornell's history with Soundgarden and the other three with RATM. As for Cornell, I avoided writing in the review about the subsequent developments in his career. Now the album with Timbaland, in a few years I can see him as a judge on some music reality show like Amici or X-Factor. Yet, with what he did in SG, I can't bring myself to dislike him.

Come on, did they really do something like that?! I can tolerate the cover album, but this feels like a pointless gimmick to me. Anyway, I saw them at Gods this year... what a great band! But I've also drifted away from metal, at least for the time being.

Great album. Ruthless, unsettling, energetic, and well ahead of its time. Simply legendary, especially the avant-garde industrial of "Wardance," the futuristic and science fiction punk of "The Wait," and the disturbing and expansive psychedelia of "Tomorrow's World" and "S.O.3.6."
