Damn, why do you always drag me into this! :D. Power metal, being so over-saturated now, has become of incredibly low quality (too many bands and too few good ones, and I repeat, I hate power metal in general but the quality of some can’t be denied). Well, it depends, there's some really great nu metal out there... Besides, I don’t even know what the hell GNU METAL means anyway. What do you mean by nu, bands or an entire category? I mean, if you tell me that Korn or EarthTone 9 have ruined metal, then I say you’re out of your mind! I don’t get it, seriously...

I'm responding now because I don't feel like working. I have a friend who's lost and rotten for them who sent me all the albums, live shows, DVDs, etc. Well, seeing Jon Lord pound away at the Hammond in certain ways, or Ritchie shredding the guitar in certain ways, or Ian Paice drumming in certain ways, I must say that Deep Purple are top-tier artists. Impressive in my opinion. I'M NOT CRAZY ABOUT THEM, actually. My conception of metal isn't the one introduced by the Purple, but by the Sabs; however, I can tell you that the metalheads (classic or Heavy, more than anything) adore them. As for that era, I lean more towards Black Sabbath and Hawkwind; I don’t know. ;)

More than inventing something as part of the triad Zeppa-Sabs-Deep Purple, Page and his mates introduced a somewhat more aggressive concept of rock that was circulating at that time. In short, the influences of today's metalheads practically stem from them or from Black Sabbath! (and a bit from Deep Purple).

Wow, are you kidding me?! :D So you’re telling me that that crap Digimortal or Obsolete are better than Archetype? This is on par with Demanufacture in terms of quality; clearly, we’re not at those levels of violence, it’s more focused on a smarter melodic scheme. This album is phenomenal!!! Then again, tastes are sacred! (P.S. Moonchild is a member of the FearFattony fan club, I speak as a worshipper of Burton and the crew...)
