Therion Secret Of The Runes

In one of the special editions, there’s also a sensational cover by ABBA (yes, those very ones!). Summer night city would be a song of rare frivolity, which in this new guise literally left me astounded.
Christopher Nolan The Dark Knight

I honestly liked this film much more than "begins." The latter has the same urban setting, at times almost futuristic, achieved much better than Schumacher's essential and aseptic Gotham. A valid alternative to Burton's gothic style. And even the city itself adapts. Nolan's Gotham is one of politics, mafia, lofts, and billionaires, not the den of disgusting and surreal characters. However, "begins" lacked a proper villain, and the result is a film that I find quite unengaging. Ledger's Joker, on the other hand, is hilarious, intriguing, and unsettling, perfectly supported by a well-crafted screenplay that owes a lot to thrillers and police dramas. I honestly admire Ledger more than Nicholson. The latter didn’t have to stretch himself too much to be the Joker, as he already had a face that looked unhinged. The handover between the bland Homes and the more likable Gyllenhaal is also excellent.
Sofia Coppola Il giardino delle vergini suicide

I remember that the film bored me like few others, including Lost in Translation, also by Coppola. And to think that I really liked Marie Antoinette. I think the pace of this film is too slow and I found the female characters unlikable.
Carla Bruni Comme si de rien n'était

Is music art? Especially contemporary music, that is, rock and its offshoots? I wouldn't know... For the past 50 years, 80% of songs have boiled down to spreading a single message: "This girl is too hot and I want to hook up with her." Or: "I'm young and I'm against the world." Plus, some young guys strum instruments that have nothing to do with the complexity of orchestral instruments. They play in garages, at college parties, in pubs, and at outdoor concerts, not in the courts of emperors. And yet, they are called "artists." You see, when we widen the perspective and embrace all music, there's little difference between classic rock and Carla Bruni, because contemporary music is entertainment, an outlet, and immediacy. I find certain snobberies from rock culture really ridiculous.

I believe that it doesn't matter how sincere an artist is in their works. What matters is that they can communicate emotions, preferably with good technique. If the viewer experiences emotions, it's not essential that they come from an authentic experience or not.
Steven Spielberg Salvate il soldato Ryan
Voto:
I found it an enjoyable and moving film, in the sense that it makes you feel emotional and anxious. However, as usual, Spielberg fills his films with too much sentimentality, and the result is a bit teary. During that time, "la sottile linea rossa" was also released, often seen as a sort of clone of this movie, but instead, it was much deeper and original.
Michael Patrick King Sex and the City

Nice review, but I personally don't love the movie and even less the TV show (which I gave up on after a few episodes). I'm not commenting on the quality; it's good. These are two well-crafted works. I really can't stand the protagonists and their stories, all focused on sex, sex, always and only sex, combined with a chic New York setting, all designer shoes and trendy cocktails. In short, the forty-year-olds who are starved for attention, sublimating this need with Manolo Blahnik shoes, are not my cup of tea. I find them repetitive.

This album is truly spectacular. Hercules' theme, in particular, is irresistible. I really appreciate the review because it was written by someone who claims to have grown up on rock.^_^

Larrock: at least the assholes are always in good company, going around always in pairs. I'll leave the snobby solipsisms to you.

But stay calm Larrok and lock yourself in your ivory tower to listen to engagée music.
