very well-written review, I haven't listened to the album but I express my fondness for the tender Ville Valo to whom I send my best wishes for a happy non-birthday

@domo: I’ll try to be clearer.. the music industry is governed by strict commercial rules (what a surprise), aimed at making record labels richer through stratospheric sales of bands without significant artistic ambitions like the aforementioned Strokes. In this way, they seek to identify the safest "target" for good profit, and that’s the environment I’m talking about, namely a specific age group of a certain type of people etc etc who might like the album in question thanks to high media exposure. Consequently, bands aren't "created," but rather they surface more easily, thanks to the dear record labels who pamper them well and then shove them onto us. That’s why I suggest not to be fooled, because if there’s a purpose (money) in artistic production that is more important than art itself, it ceases to be art.

A review that is nothing short of disappointing, which I believe reflects a certain immaturity that simultaneously leads you to frequent certain musical environments created specifically for an average of users you can identify with. Don't be fooled (I am not rating the album since I've heard too little of it, although I must say that it was enough for me).

"The other songs are all very similar, with a very fast and catchy rhythm and a very simple sound without electronic instruments." Exhaustive.

It's a shame about the serious discographic inaccuracy, but I forgive you considering the wonderful conclusion.

I hadn't read the other reviews, so your intentions are clearer now.. anyway, it was an excellent review, also because it provides an alternative perspective to the usual ones, which may be more precise and comprehensive but at the same time colder.. best regards

Composers from another time, with an unheard-of refinement... good review, although I would have preferred a more "close-up" analysis, while fully understanding why you wrote it this way... great Opeth!
