Good review, I mostly agree on the key tracks; I’d say that overall the first part of the album is much better than the second, where the band might tend to get a bit repetitive.
It's a fun album, even if perhaps a tad too uniform.
Definitely worth promoting, hoping they grow well. A good remedy against depression.
Rating: 3.5
Oh, I wanted to point out that probably part of the vocal line in Alarm Clock was completely borrowed from the Kaiser Chiefs for the lead single of their latest album, Never Miss A Beat.

A bit hasty the review, navars.
Beautiful album, perhaps the one in which Ryan Adams has managed to best focus his talent, condensing almost all the various types of song explored into a single record.
Too bad about the sound, at times a bit too polished, at times lacking the punch compared to Adams' sound with the Cardinals.
The main virtue of the album is that all the tracks remain at a more than respectable level (and there are 16), with Silvia Plath being the only filler.
A veil of sadness runs through the entire work, with a few brighter moments here and there.
Ryan Adams fits into the tradition of American rock singer-songwriter, establishing himself as a master of the classic melancholic ballad (Rescue Blues, When The Stars Go Blue, La Cienega Just Smiled, Harder Now That it's Over, Wild Flowers).
La Cienega Just Smiled is a gem capable of rivaling JJ Cale's Magnolia.

I meant "meaning," of course.

I am exactly on the same wavelength as you; I share what you wrote.
I could very well have used an unfortunate adjective; however, while it is true that the primary exception attributed to "ruffiano" is negative, I believe the word can also be used in a good-natured sense, not necessarily implying a flaw.
Anyway, I took the liberty of using that word because it was just a brief comment of mine; had I written the review, I wouldn't have used it, if that makes sense.

There was no provocative intent in using that adjective. I don’t believe that your dislike for an adjective gives you the right to contest me arrogantly ("what the hell are you saying?"). I made a speech that has an overall meaning and that addresses anyone who might access this space and wants to form an idea about this album. In fact, with what you wrote, you have essentially admitted to being presumptuous and biased against me, so you’d be better off saying that you can't stand me instead of nitpicking at what I write. You speak based on prejudice; lucky you for thinking you've understood everything about me. I am not like anyone else. What should I do??? Look, I didn’t even know you could change your nickname. Time (since I believe I will write again) will provide you with proof that you were wrong.

Bubi, something tells me that your aggressive attitude has to do not so much with my comment, but with the posts regarding another band. Should I re-read? Ah, what's the principle anyway? That the more one reads something, the more they agree with the author? Don't pit me against Melissa, whom I have nothing to object to; on the contrary, she deserves credit for reviewing such a beautiful album. I read carefully; perhaps you should read what I write more closely because your over-the-top reaction suggests that I wrote "commercial album of excremental level," which is not exactly what I said. You either didn't read it, didn't understand it, or more likely, chose not to understand it. What will you do now, chase me around the site attacking me for a misplaced comma? Moreover, have the decency to challenge me when you are significantly in disagreement with me, because Forever Changes is one of my favorite albums of all time, so I don't believe I am that far from your positions.

Dema, I think you could have done better with the review; it's a bit too segmented. The album is amazing, but maybe I'm a little biased, as I adore this band. However, I believe that in relation to their artistic merits, class, and refinement they displayed, Spirit are one of those bands that deserve far greater popularity. This proves that the equation popularity=skill that some people operate under is merely a result of acquiescence to certain mechanisms that have nothing to do with music, let alone, obviously, with quality music.

Among the extraordinarily catchy and endearing records in rock history, it stands out as one of the best.
Atmospheric psychedelia, achieved mainly through masterful arrangements, serves romantic songs that sing of love, perfectly capturing that naive and light LOVE FOR LOVE that aptly reflects the slightly surreal atmosphere of that legendary summer of love from '67.
It can appeal to both a discerning audience and a more tolerant one.
Highly recommended to all the lovers in the world!
It may not quite deserve a 5; the right score would be 4.5, but since half points don’t exist, I’ll reward it with a 5.

I understand the point you're making about "waties." I believe everyone has experienced listening to an album for the first time and rejecting it, only to return and find it beautiful or at least interesting. However, with this one, no, it hasn't happened to me. It's admirable for various reasons, but it has never truly captivated me; I appreciate Forever Changes more. In my opinion, it has the flaw of not clearly focusing on the excellent ideas that are at its core.
