U2 How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Voto:
There is no doubt that this album is subpar. However, to say that U2 were an "unnecessary" and "mediocre" band seems to me a huge misrepresentation, which, dear Nick, would be better to avoid. What they produced in the '80s was often of exceptionally high quality (and it takes courage to deny that) but above all extremely influential. The same "Achtung Baby" was very important for all the music of the following decade, beyond the crowd-pleasers like "One." Let's try to avoid hasty judgments... that do not honor us.

@psychopompe. The new one from the Shins? Well composed, well played, but not many new ideas. However, it's pleasant to listen to.

Well, if you liked the first one, know that the new one is much more cerebral and challenging. Longtime fans will be disappointed. Maybe Kosmo is a bit unforgiving, but it really is a difficult album. Anyway, we'll talk about it when someone takes the time to review it...

I really like this. Watch out for the CYHSY, you might end up disappointed... Instead, give an ear to the Menomena, you'll be safe...

You're right, Ghemi, I should have been clearer... I was referring to the "experimental" New York scene... but even that doesn’t mean much... a few names: Liars, Fiery Furnaces, CYHSY, and of course TOTR (sorry for the acronyms): what I was trying to say is that I see a common thread in the work of these groups, which breathe the same atmosphere and all seem to want to join in the same game: a game that I find a lot of fun.

I happened to pass by and what did I find among the latest publications? Ghemison reviewing that great album by TV on the Radio. In my opinion, they are extraordinary, here even more than at their debut, but they are very much products of their time. To understand them well, one must frame them within today's New York scene, which enjoys deconstructing and mixing very heterogeneous sound structures. Or not?

I demand explanations about the genesis of the name... then their faces and your phrase "miscidato imbarbarimento tra rock e atmosfere appesantite, con riuso di spunti trip-hop" frighten me. But do you think they are also suitable for a pure soul like me? Just know that I’m sensitive and get impressed easily...

And obviously, since it's late and I should already be in bed, I voted incorrectly. I was saying it's a four-star. I’m averaging it out.

I was thrilled, and I'm not someone who gets excited easily. Even better than the latest works by Tiromancino. In your review, you are quite cautious, but then you give it four stars, which I completely agree with.

I caught a glimpse of the video on Brand New yesterday (that show is getting worse and worse, I really miss Coppola) and it immediately captured me. I urgently need to listen to the full album. And I didn’t know anything about Jeff Buckley’s story... I need to dedicate more time to musical gossip. The review is very well written; Vivis is now among my favorite authors :-)
