"Infinitely" sublime record... But from Father Kosmische I have nothing else: how do the subsequent ones differ from this excellent debut?

I recommend to anyone who loves Vdgg and the dark tones of works like Pawn Hearts and is desperately seeking something that embraces their spirit to immerse themselves in the listening of Current 93... They certainly don't have the same sound, but in my opinion, on an emotional level, we're at the same height (if not higher), and at least in terms of my musical evolution, they are the only band that has taken the place of Vdgg in my heart.

@zzot: I saw them in Umbertide in 2007 and in Rosignano a year or two ago. I believe I read that they are coming back to Italy in a couple of months, but I don't think Jackson will be there. Don't worry: it won't be exactly the same, but I enjoyed them twice with the same three-member lineup, and I assure you that Banton covers the horn parts quite well...

Although I have a visceral and unconditional love for this band, which I had the pleasure of seeing live twice in Italy, this album has always seemed to me an imperfect prototype of what the VDGG would produce later on... to me, the trilogy consists of Pawn Hearts, Godbluff, and the more refined album by the group: Still Life. These three are, in fact, the albums of their full maturity: among the subsequent albums, I think the only notable one is the solo "The Quiet Zone," whose sound is different due to the absence of Jackson, replaced by the excellent violinist Graham Smith, coming from String Driven Thing: just listen to "The Wave" or "Cat's Eye/Yellow Fever," tracks that should definitely be counted among the masterpieces of the group.

Come on...there are equally emotional bands out there!! Do you know Current 93?

I quote Contemplation for the affinities that this record has with Rock Bottom... they are both the Weltanschauung of a man: his relationship with himself and the All (or why not also the Nothing?) external to himself... the attempt (in my opinion successful for both) to express the inexpressible, to create empathy and sympathy with the listener.
Alas, there are few records like this, and I refrain from naming them because I believe everyone has their own!
Just one difference... if Rock Bottom aims to be (at least according to my interpretation) a descent into the depths of one’s own consciousness and self for purification, Starsailor is instead a troubled journey that draws its artistic nature and majesty precisely from its aimlessness and lack of return...
Do you know any records like this???

@POLKA as a fan of KC, I highly recommend listening to their entire discography up to Discipline, preferably in order (so you can appreciate Fripp's artistic evolution): these are the albums filled with the most ideas. The subsequent production is a reinterpretation of the sounds of Discipline, although with harsher, almost metallic tones... the usual geometric phrases by Fripp (already seen in pieces such as The Fracture from Starless and Bible Black and Larks' Tongues in Aspic Parts 1 and 2, etc...). Rather, I strongly recommend this album: Continuum by Fractal, which from the cover, shamelessly identical to that of Red by our band, presents itself as a tribute to the Crimson King. Listen to it, you won't regret it!!

And above all...the album in question is beloved by David Tibet of Current 93, with whom he recorded a stunning cover of "when the May rain comes" included in Thunder Perfect Mind.

To Mr. Poletti... Devoto-Oli defines "Criticism" in the following way: An activity of thought engaged in the interpretation and evaluation of historical or aesthetic facts or documents. By antonomasia: CRITICISM, those who, at a PROFESSIONAL level, seek to arrive at a judgment in cultural matters and especially in the arts. So dear Poletti, I tolerate the fact that everyone can express their opinion, but at least illustrate the reasons behind that opinion... If your "ars criticandi" is based on the childish superficiality of expressing "This is beautiful: I like it" or "This is overrated... mediocre," do you perhaps hope that people will care about your opinion? I am not talking about the album in question, but about your supposed arrogant form of pseudo-criticism... engage in some self-criticism, because you are pathetic! P.S. Sometimes you could make a better impression by simply remaining silent: judgment should be well-considered!
