Iron Maiden Live At Donington

I don't believe there were any issues removing them; they must have overdubbed something taken from some other date... by the way, I have the version with 2 CDs and a different cover, the one without a booklet or anything, very basic but it captures very well what Iron Maiden were like live: a war machine, which is what they've always been and continue to be.

for the x factor: you haven't heard them because they're not on the official album, but if you find the bootleg, you'll definitely hear them because they are obvious. The bootleg was released as a single CD back in the day, called Live In Europe, and the cover features a big head of Eddi in 7th son style. The concert overall is very positive (in my opinion): who cares about the flaws if you're exuding a thousand watts of energy from the stage!

The album is not bad, but be careful because with the "ciuffolo" it's a semi-bootleg: I have the original bootleg and the Maiden that night made some horrific mistakes! The two most outrageous ones: Bruce messing up and jumping ahead to the chorus of "The Evil That Man Do," correcting himself on the fly, and the whole band, during the central break of "Iron Maiden," completely losing it: Dave goes off on his own, Nicko doesn’t understand anything and comes in 3 measures late (I don’t even consider good Janick), and after a moment of panic, everything gets sorted out. Still, within the Maiden's discography, it's an important album because it showcases the band's live energy (which at the time was considered dead), despite everything. And let’s not even talk about the production, which is a disaster…

I noticed that the album is being re-released: a new remastered version is set to come out in December and will include some extras as well. At the moment, it can be pre-ordered on Amazon et similia. We are eagerly waiting.

Curious about the review, I went to dust off the mentioned CD, you never know, maybe I’m just misremembering it... and instead, I remembered it perfectly well: banal melodic lines, mostly predictable compositions (let's exclude SOTC which initially offers some hope), mediocre arrangements, embarrassing production (the technical term would be "all over the place"), all said by someone who is a huge fan of Iron Maiden. In short: how the hell can you say this is the best Maiden album? Well, de gustibus non disputandum. Up the irons!

for Meson: "Damn, you're right! I checked the credits and Steve Stevens isn't there! On the guitars (which are actually very little electric and much more 'electronic') there's an unspecified Miike Younger-Smith..."
Billy Idol Cyberpunk
Voto:
for dEDOLUZ: if you want to know the "real" Billy Idol, it's definitely better to get Rebell Yell and Whiplash Smile (but the latest Scream isn’t bad at all), Cyberpunk remains an atypical work within Billy's discography.

They don't play Burn anymore because Gillan will never sing pieces he hasn't written himself; it's not so much a matter of rights: live, you can play anything... Child in Time, on the other hand, I think they don't play anymore because Gillan can no longer reach such high notes...

the album is a masterpiece, in every way. I agree that the somewhat weaker moments are those that are almost solely spoken, but the rest is of such a high level that it makes everything else fade into the background.
