The film itself is actually quite bad, but it's the message that matters! I wasn't disappointed at all, especially because I watched it thinking it would be the classic American horror movie by Carpenter, and instead, at least in terms of meaning, it wasn't what I expected! Precisely, you (reviewer) could have written much more on the subject.

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a bit fed up with every bestseller being adapted to film: good or bad, they do it with all the books that have huge sales, so they’re already guaranteed to rake in the box office. A bit pointless in my opinion.
