Robert Fripp Exposure

PS: the tracklist includes, after the spoken intro and the ringing of a phone (the entire album is a kind of "phone conversation"), the rocknroll (I would say "frippnroll") of you burn me up (in the review it’s mistakenly listed as the final track!)

I've been listening to this album for 10 years... even today, Breathless, Mary, NY3 still give me goosebumps... gentlemen, this is, in my opinion, among the 3 greatest rock albums of all time... and, personally, my favorite!

Great review and awesome Eddie...

I no longer understand what happened to Corgan... this EP is the apotheosis of uselessness... mediocre songs, probably written 2 minutes before recording them... really sad... the last great piece from the SP was Stand Inside Your Love... since then, nothing more... and this EP (after the horrible last album) confirms that for now the creativity of the bald one is at zero (and I don't mean the song)... if an artist has nothing to say, why release this stuff? The solo album, in comparison, seems like Peter Gabriel III!!!!!!!
Keith Jarrett The Melody At Night With You

An immobile and monotonous record??? Have we gone mad??? This is a record played at home after the illness and it was a gift (I can’t remember if it was for a birthday or Christmas) for my wife... and indeed the Jarrettian lyricism reaches unexpected heights given the minimalist approach to these standards (Jarrett himself has said that whenever he was about to play something more complex, he stopped, choosing "simplicity"—referring to himself, of course—as the solution). Romantic and inspired... I too was a bit perplexed at first, but as I’ve read from someone else, the record has slowly grown over time...
Keith Jarrett Paris Concert
Voto:
Great review for a great album, indeed a phenomenal one...the classic opening is moving...and then the journey begins with the typical persistent pedal à la KJ...not to mention the beautiful The wind and that blues...I have no words...
Comparing Bill Evans and KJ makes no sense, since Evans was a master for Jarrett and for anyone who has played jazz piano since "New jazz conception"...Jarrett's trio is the natural continuation of Evans' trio (the one with the unfortunate LaFaro), an undisputed genius who, with the technique of interplay, defined once and for all how a piano-bass-drums trio SHOULD be...at most, one could compare KJ to Chick Corea, but let’s leave Evans to legend; let’s not make comparisons like Pelé-Maradona!!!!
Keith Jarrett La Scala

Absolute masterpiece... the pinnacle of Jarrett in solo piano... even better than the Vienna, even better than the Paris (masterpieces as well)... and to top it off, a metaphysical Over the Rainbow... why hasn’t ECM released all the encores? Maybe because they wouldn't fit on a single CD? I can’t believe that...
Keith Jarrett The Köln Concert

Here we are faced with a typical issue: is the historical value of the record (extremely high) predominant, or is the quality level (high, mind you, but a notch below Paris, Vienna, and the masterpiece La Scala)? And the irony is that the concert was almost canceled because the piano was subpar (which is evident from the record), so KJ mostly had to improvise in the mid-register... anyway, Jarrett didn’t want to release it, but when he listened to it again, he deemed it acceptable... for those unfamiliar with Jarrett, however, it's a good record to start the journey into solo piano.
