Unfortunately and fortunately, the genre has faded away. I don’t see the need to renew it. It’s clear that simplicity reigns supreme and, as Fedee said, it's a double-edged sword. It’s increasingly more of a melody with sprinkles of HC rather than melodic Californian HC. With all the great stuff they produced, Pennywise, NOFX, Millencolin, Lagwagon, Less Than Jake, Bad Religion, Propagandhi, No Use for a Name… I really don’t feel the need for something new… Perhaps also because I listen to this genre less and less often (although I always enjoy it, to be clear!).

A milestone of music history... @Sfascia: how is it possible that you gave it a 5? Thanks to you, it boasts an average of 1.36... higher than any 20th review of a DT album.

Personally, I consider NOFX my favorite melodic HC band. However, nothing prevents me from objectively noting negative aspects, such as the fact that for quite a while they've only released mediocre albums (even though The War On Errorism featured some slight enjoyable "experimentation"), this album is generally a filler in their entire discography. Much better, in my opinion, is the EP "Never Trust A Hippie," which contained the best tracks from the album. Punk In Drublic is overrated by many, but it’s definitely of good quality (4 stars). The other albums, on the other hand, are often underrated. Unfortunately, I have a connection to "Pump up the Valuum" (because of the memories, the lyrics, and other usual trivialities), even though I am aware that it represented the band's decline towards mediocrity (which is a high standard when compared to the pop/punk of some MTV baby like Blink). Pennywise haven't been explored much, although there are some truly unforgettable tracks (Stand by Me, Unknown Road, and Fuck Authority among them). I really appreciate Millencolin, but since Pennybridge Pioneers, they haven't given me anything thrilling (except for Ray, of course).

I haven't seen them, but I would add Kazushi Agiwara (Bastard!!) and Kentaro Miura (Berserk), not to mention the author of Fortified School and the one of Bleach.

@Gustavo: What I meant to say is that the MCRs are lower than the MCRs...;D

"Then the MCR on this record are very different from the last album which in my opinion is overly produced." - Please. With MCR we mean only the Modena City Ramblers. They should not be reduced to a diminutive like those aforementioned for their musical, lyrical, figurative inferiority and... Well, they do manage to provide some stimulus to the gut though. Good reception with a few lines that feel pre-printed or forced. Bye

I've only seen "Sweet Sixteen," which I find rather depressing... Not poorly made, just depressing in the literal sense of the term...

I agree. The drummer was a beast (in the sense that he hit the drums at lightning speed). I saw them at the Rock Planet in Pinarella and met the singer (he wasn't playing the drums for that occasion, but another guy) after the concert... He was quite wrecked and smelled of beer... Which made him blend into the crowd. Hehe! Great album with a good review.

@CPT: I think there's a reason for double reviews. How many of you really want to dig up an old review of an artist from years ago? An occasional review can remind you that there’s that artist to explore and/or get to know, right? Moreover, it creates an opportunity to start a new discussion with newcomers (or new jibes) in a fresh review of the same album rather than leaving a comment on an ancient review that no one cares about anymore, right? And if the new review is better than the old ones, that would be even better...
