I share the analysis of eletto and Mopaga. Although I grew up in the years straddling the 90s and 00s (cinematically), my heart breaks to see the direction that today's horror films have taken, of which I save only The Faculty and a few others. The horrors I remember were splatter with sarcasm and grotesque situations. Or, in another way, original, engaging, and disorienting. But both managed to create that little bit of suspense that the viewer needed for watching such a film. I believe the breaking point can be traced back to the advent of all those pieces of crap remakes (and sometimes even the originals) of Eastern horror films. It now seems that horror films are for 14-year-old kids who want to hype themselves up and see all their cravings for violence fulfilled. Evil Dead, where are you? Hitchcock, why did you leave? Carpenter, where have you gone? Did Spider-Man abduct you, Sam Raimi?

Criticism is never an exact science. If one focuses on a fact of sellout=shit=mass=banal, they end up saying nonsense (quoting Eletto). On the other hand, one falls into the reverse extremization: personal tastes. Exact criticism would take place based on sales (FOR SURE) unless all great artists are equally visible (see house, hip-hop, etc. overused by all media like radio, (m)tv, newspapers that deceive everyone with medleys of tracks, maybe even rock, which the listeners are oblivious to, and stuff them with yo! or personal melodic nonsense) of my neighbor who plays in the garage, and, on the other hand, the people listening to them are inflexible machines when it comes to current trends and stable in mood. This is why, in my opinion, bringing sales into the conversation is almost useless. @rnrsuicide: I admired and revered Queen for a long time, but I realize that beyond beautiful travel songs, they couldn't go, in my opinion (except for some sporadic masterpiece) because at that time I had the conception that rock was exclusively that. Slowly discovering a broader musical landscape, I realized what Queen ultimately were: a good band that produced good pop-rock songs. However, the fact remains that "commercial" stuff like that is a dream these days. Regarding your discussion about fans, I pretty much agree with your conclusions, but one shouldn't generalize as it could very well be coincidences. @Eletto: indeed, it never even crossed my mind to give a 1 to any work regardless of the aforementioned group. Bye

@YheSpirit: What rnrsuicide meant (I think) is that within a musical maturation journey, the Queen will not be the end, but they are almost always a starting point towards more hidden and visceral realms of the musical world that do not have (or have not had) the fame and attention that the Queen once enjoyed. This should not be entirely deciphered as a negative factor, especially since we are facing a career that has always been, and will always be, two decades long. Without wanting to show off anything (if it seems that way, I apologize), I do not consider myself a deep connoisseur of this almost infinite musical landscape. I do not delve excessively beyond the commercial realm (with the exception of metal and punk, which, however, I no longer see as having great evolutions or interesting developments).

Here, anyway, there are people who vote 5 because Freddie is no longer here. Nothing to say, I miss him as a musical character and as a voice (undeniably unique and evocative), but we are discussing an objectively mediocre album in their discography. Personally, I used to consider Queen the best band in the world in the past, but looking back now, I don't regret it, but I find it a bit narrow-minded, especially when shortly after, you listen to Led Zeppelin, from whom Queen draw heavily (especially in Freddie's stage attitude) with similarities in their early works (with a clear personal touch) where they created the most grandiose things of their career. So with all the love I have for Queen, to whom I have been connected, I realize they were only a small part of the musical scene, but they represented twice what was due. That's all. Without wanting to disrespect anyone, especially Freddie.

No one revealed the ending. It’s worth more than the whole movie.

Nothing to say about Freddie Mercury. I don’t want to be disrespectful, as I believe the other members of the band have done...

The topic of Queen is always a delicate one because, like it or not, everyone has musically grown up with the Queen or, at the very least, incorporated them at the beginning of their musical maturation, being simpler and more commercial than any other more influential artist. Except for a few works, Queen has always leaned into the average with well-executed collages of things already heard and a bit bland. This doesn’t mean they should be completely dismissed or belittled, but for a while now (10 years? - I’m 23), I’ve set them aside without blaming them (I still enjoy listening to their songs), but being aware that they have been inflated by the media and, above all, the public, in a way that is disproportionate to their actual artistic and musical abilities (only if it’s done by a Vasco or a Ligabue does everyone notice). Surely, in a discography this vast, there are 2 or 3 masterpieces, but nothing more than a few gems scattered here and there in a sea of well-crafted mediocrity.

I must say I had the same impression about the ending, but I consider it one of the most beautiful endings (in the shocking genre) I have ever seen!!!!!!! A surprising movie.

I agree with Tomgil and I would add that I miss the early DJ Life and the funky Dirk from Enjoy and Fungus (not to mention S.C.I.E.N.C.E). Anyway, much better than Morning View and much worse than S.C.I.E.N.C.E!
