No one knew how to record like Formula 3. Listening to the mini-LP Made in Japan transferred to Weiss server MAN301, the sound is glorious, captivating. Alberto Radius's voice conveys the disappointment of a great house that was never more. Formula 3 had acquired a property in Brianza, converting it into a recording studio, imitating what Richard Branson had done a few years earlier in England. Unfortunately, internal tensions within the group (and envy over Radius's stellar guitar quality) led to the disbandment of the group in 1974. Radius moved on to Il Volo, with two produced albums, before starting his solo career in 1976 with Che Cosa Sei. La Grande Casa testifies to the extremely high musical qualities achieved, and as such, it is a precious and necessary album. The pleasure of listening to it increases with each subsequent play.
