One piece better than the other. Listen to Total Recall in the version by Cassell Webb from the album Llano. It features the same Adrian Borland, and you can find more info here; years ago I wrote the review.

I have a completely different opinion! The pearls branded The Sound go by the names of "Jeopardy," "From The Lion's Mouth," "Shock of Daylight" (EP), and let’s not forget the rudimentary "Propaganda." Valid, but not on par with the aforementioned titles, is also "All Fall Down." However, this album and "Thunder Up" represent the twilight of the London band.

I like everything, even his albums with Citizens.

I simply said that Heads and Hearts is an unjustly underrated album, not that it was the best work by The Sound. Borland and the others paid for not being mainstream (see Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, etc.) but also not being too "cursed" or exotically obscure (see Joy Division, Cure, Bauhaus, etc.); theirs was a "middle ground" made of existential darkness rather than material, playing the banality of dark evil with exquisite technique and a love for aesthetics, without "cheating" their fans with "special effects."

I completely agree. But on this album and in "Thunder Up" they had very little to say.

However, I find it distinctly superior to contemporary albums that were, conversely, elevated to the status of masterpieces...
