Black Sabbath: Paranoid
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The riff of "Iron Man" is something insane; it should be considered a part of humanity's heritage... And then the title track, "War Pigs," etc... in one word, "HISTORY"...

You like to win easily, huh ;)
  • Dragonstar

...and to think that the title track was composed as a filler to stretch the album's length by a few minutes! I am an anti-classicist when it comes to music. It's rare for a piece of history that has also conquered the mainstream to be one of my favorite tracks. For example, it's uncommon for me to find myself humming... I don't know? Smoke On the Water, Whole Lotta Love, Back in Black... but I must say that Paranoid (the song) still manages to captivate me. That's not like me! Ah, you forgot to mention Hand of Doom, a piece that single-handedly introduced heavy, doom, and thrash metal in one go! Now that track is a true, misunderstood piece of history!

Drago, I put "etc" so I wouldn't reveal too much; otherwise, I would have had to list all the pieces of this masterpiece... Anyway, since one was mentioned by you, I'll add the others: "Electric Funeral, Planet Caravan, Rat Salad, Fairies Wear Boots"... in one word "HISTORY"...

To reconnect with the review of "Mob Rules" by the late chiccotana, I can only say that, well, these are the Black Sabbath I love.

This is a masterpiece. Period. Hearing War Pigs sends me into ecstasy.

And to think that at first I didn't like "Planet Caravan"

All I need is "Children of the Grave" to give yet another 5 to the band from Birmingham!!

Undeniable album, for me the best is "Into the Void."

I'm stuck on the first two masterpieces. I need to catch up on this one. :)

Best BS album, for me it outclasses Paranoid from any angle you look at the "outclassing" issue.

After "Paranoid" but before any other of their releases. Stratospheric album.

Masterpiece. Just like the previous two, after all. But "Vol.4" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" were no joke either. Then they started to decline for me..
  • hjhhjij
    9 may 15
Damn, let's reevaluate "Volume 4," which is fabulous. Then, I agree with Silas; "Sabotage" is good but definitely not as great as the first five. The last two with Ozzy aren't much to write home about, and "Heaven and Hell" brought a bit of fresh air into their music but with a style that doesn't blow me away. In the pantheon, for a quintet of monstrously beautiful albums.
  • Aquarius27
    10 may 15
"Vol.4" and "Sabotage" two great albums... "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" almost a masterpiece.. Between "Ecstasy" and "Never" I don't know which one is the worst of the Ozzy era... "Heaven and Hell" masterpiece... "Mob Rules" great album... just like "Born Again"... "Seventh Star" nice but nothing more... "Eternal Idol" and "Headless Cross" two great albums... "Tyr" nice but inferior to the first two... "Dehumanizer" can be liked or not, I'm in the middle... "Cross Purposes" nice... "Forbidden" the only real misstep in their discography... "13" brings us back to the old Sabbath of the good times!!

I am definitely cooler compared to the albums released after 1975.
Black Sabbath: Vol. 4
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Great album, not quite as good as the first three (that's why it's a 4), but a great album!!

Snowblind remains one of their absolute best songs; the rest, as you say, is also inferior to the first three, in my opinion. Their peak for me remains the one prior to this.
Black Sabbath: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Some tracks that are not particularly inspired are present on the album, but when there are also songs like the title track, "A National Acrobat," and "Spiral Architect," everything else fades into the background... So screw the fillers, 5 and that's it!

one of their best for me (along with the other top 5 and Heaven and Hell and Headless Cross and a couple of others that I can't think of right now :D)

Wonderful album, the latest wonderful album by Black Sabbath as far as I’m concerned, but @[Aquarius27] do me a favor and change that profile picture :D We’re all happy and joyful #notreally because Gion Sno is back, but that thing is impossible to look at XD And here, I dedicate this to you, it wasn't Melisandre who brought him back, nor the god of fire... No, it was Kate Bush!
  • Aquarius27
    4 may 16
Melisandre (or Carice, call her what you like) would bring the dead back to life from halfway around the world thanks to the body and face she has, without uttering those random words spoken in the series... Although I must say that I’ve never really liked her character... Instead, the image of Jon Snow Stark (or Targaryen) will remain, at least until his sword pierces Thorne's chest or until Ghost sinks his teeth into Olly :D :D ......

    4 may 16
I really like Van Houten, besides the fact that she’s hot, ever since I heard her writing songs with Howe Gelb and Marc Ribot and covering Kate Bush's tracks :D Melisandre covering Kate Bush is quite a sight, isn't it?
  • Hank Monk
    4 may 16

I didn't know she was also a singer... She has a beautiful voice, to make a long story short, Carice is like a pig, you don't throw anything away :D
  • Marco Orsi

Hank, that Gion "I don't know shit" Sno would have resurrected is the least spoiler spoiler in history XD Van Houten's album isn't anything special, but still, the track with Marc Ribot is nice (and thanks).
Black Sabbath: Heaven And Hell
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The return to the sounds of their early days with the greatest heavy metal vocalist in history at the helm... Epic!
  • hjhhjij

"The return to the sounds of the beginnings" Ehhh?
  • Dragonstar
    27 dec 15
...in fact, the album sounds much heavier compared to the hard doom of the early records. I believe it means it returns to being decadent and dark; in fact, the last two with Ozzy had somewhat lost the gloomy and unhealthy vein of the 70-75 period. Nevertheless, I want to say that "Techncal Ecstasy" from '76, I really like a lot. This one, we won't even mention...
  • hjhhjij
    28 dec 15
But it's not decadent and dark, and it's still very far from the sounds of the early albums, beautiful or not, like it or not, it's a fresh album precisely because it's completely different from the beginnings (and Ronnie James' "epic" vein had quite an influence, I believe). It’s lightyears away from the distorted Hard-Blues and the Doom seed of the early albums; they are two utterly distant universes...
  • Aquarius27
    28 dec 15
It sounds much more like early Black Sabbath than the tired late Ozzy era. The title track is an example of that! It’s clear that it’s more influenced by Dio, but here I personally hear a lot of Black Sabbath from the '69-'75 period rather than '76-'78!
  • BARRACUDA BLUE
    28 dec 15
Ronnie James in Sabbath resumes the conversation interrupted in Rainbow in his own way, less doom and more epic, revitalizing the band and offering Iommi new ideas to shine with his riffs. The only legendary band re-emerging in the fiery NWOBHM scene as a reference point for the evolution of an entire genre. In this album, the balance between the parts was almost perfect.
Black Sabbath: Mob rules
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Just today, after a couple of weeks, I turned on the car stereo again, and there was Mob Rules on the third track, "The Sign Of The Southern Cross" for those who are less informed. Now you might say, how is that possible? You drove around in the car for weeks without music as background?? You must be crazy!!! Anyway, the album reminded me that I still hadn’t given a definition and a rating to the record... What can I say, it's inferior to its predecessor, but still superior to the myriad of metal albums that have been released in recent years!!

Cute but I don't love the divine Black Sabbath ;) It's a matter of sounds.
  • Aquarius27
    5 sep 16
The sounds and atmospheres of the early albums are unmatched, no doubt about it, but they have always maintained a high standard in all the albums post-Ozzy! For example, I really love the Tony Martin era as well, especially the album "Headless Cross"...
Black Sabbath: Headless Cross
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
The peak of the Martin era for me!
Blue Öyster Cult: Secret Treaties
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Personally, I consider it their masterpiece, not that "Tyranny" is lacking, just like the self-titled album which I adore... But this one has that something extra that I can't explain! From "Career of Evil" to "Astronomy," passing through "ME 262" and "Dominance and Submission," not to mention "Flaming Telepaths," it's hard to choose a specific track among such beauty! Spectacular!!
Blue Öyster Cult: Blue Öyster Cult
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Probably overshadowed by the two masterpieces released later, the debut of Blue Oyster Cult is a sublime album that, nonetheless, does not feel diminished when compared to the two mentioned records; on the contrary.....

It's a wonder ... very original, profound and ruokk..
Bon Jovi: New Jersey
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Say what you want, but Bon Jovi released great albums up until "These Days" (1995), or at least listenable records! "New Jersey" is, in my opinion, the best of the group, even better than "Slippery When Wet," which is also a fantastic album!! Listening to a band without prejudice and without hearing the opinions of "music experts" can sometimes be useful, because you can judge a band calmly!!
Bon Jovi: Keep The Faith
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
There are no "Livin on a Prayer" or "Born to be my Baby" that hold a candle... The best track by Bon Jovi is on this album and it's "Dry County", their "Stairway To Heaven" (of course, with all due proportions). (4.5)
