The Who: My Generation
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
A too important, historical album... Giving less than 5 is impossible for me!!
The Who: Who's Next
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Needless to add words to the album in question... A masterpiece that doesn't require my "judgments" and the usual phrases heard too many times... I waste a little more time on the cover instead, which, in my opinion, is the most beautiful cover in history...

Among my favorites: a must to listen to on the road!

A part of my heart, this record.
The Who: Quadrophenia
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
For me, it’s not a masterpiece; rather, it’s something greater, something indefinable... The term masterpiece doesn’t do it justice as it should... One of the most beautiful albums I have ever listened to!!
The Who: Tommy
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
A rounded 5. For me, just a tad below "Quadrophenia" and "Who's Next"...
Thin Lizzy: Black Rose
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
It’s probably their compositional peak... Incredibly inspired with a remarkably sharp band, and then the title track, gentlemen! An extraordinary piece that deserves to be counted among the best Rock songs of all time!!
Thin lizzy: jailbreak
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
"Jailbreak," "The Boys are back in Town," "Emerald," etc... I believe we can confidently give it a solid 5!
Thin Lizzy: Thunder and Lightning
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
An album that departs from their previous productions due to its more "heavy" vein, but it deserves a lot. (4.5)
Tool: Ænima
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Screw you, piece of shit, and go suck cock on a plane!
Tool: Undertow
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Album that I have reevaluated over time... It grows with each listen... Not their best, but sweeps away a mountain of records with a single note from any song on the album...

It's actually dropped a bit for me over the years, but it still remains an old love. I should also have the double vinyl somewhere, now that I think about it.

This and "Aenima" I like 1000 times more than that prog meatloaf that I'd better not mention for my own safety. ahahahah. de gustibus.

No, no, no, I have to resist... I can't do it, it's stronger than me... Aaahhh!!!! Lateralus and 10,000 Days are way better than this and Aenima!

I actually like it too, it sounds better. The ones after? I don’t know. Too loooong. I know, I’m a bit out of it (and really bad) but for a couple of years my perfect album doesn’t go over 45 minutes. It’s the damn serenase’s fault; if I listened to Lateralus today, I’d fall asleep in my chair like what happened to me with Zeitgeist by the Pumpkins (and there’s not even a comparison between the two albums, I know).

Come on Zannus, 10,000 Days is a joke compared to the previous ones.

Oh, what can I say, I like a bottous! This one, for example, I find bland and lacking in bite, devoid of the spark of genius they will later show. In a (banal) word: immature.
Van Halen: Women And Children First
CD Audio I have it ★★★
They have released definitely better albums, but here we also find noteworthy tracks like "Everybody Wants Some!!," "Fools," "Romeo Delight," "Take Your Whiskey Home"...

I agree with you, it's a more than decent album, but far from the freshness of the first two. And to think that I've always read from various sources that it's considered their best album, I've never understood why...

Rolling Stone, Classic Rock... that's why I haven't read them in years :DDD
Van Halen: 1984
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Last album with D.L. Roth before the temporary separation (which lasted quite a while)... The band’s sound lightens up a bit, giving birth to an album with "Hair" nuances. Included are famous tracks from the band like the stunning "Hot for Teacher," "Jump," "Panama"...
  • hellraiser
    11 apr 15
I prefer the first two from the band; this is, if we want to be precise, their most famous album, especially for the hits "Jump" and "Panama," but it's already too filled with '80s effects for my taste. Still, it’s a really good album, the beginning of the end for them...

    11 apr 15
I don't agree when you say the beginning of the end... With Hagar they released acceptable albums... 5150, FUCK, and Balance are great albums (the latter is hugely underrated in my opinion)...
  • hellraiser
    11 apr 15
Hagar has a tremendous voice and is also an excellent guitarist, but I have never liked him; it's just a matter of personal taste, anyway.

Van Halen: Van Halen
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Amazing debut album by Van Halen... The peaks reached in this record will never be replicated by the band, despite always releasing great albums (except Diver Down)... What more can be said about the record... Pure Hard Rock played as it should be...
Van Halen: Van Halen II
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
A little over half an hour of great Hard Rock... It doesn't reach the heights of the debut, but overall it's a great album!! (I notice that the site has put the definition for Van Halen III, even though I clicked on Van Halen II)
Van Halen: 5150
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Replacing a charismatic vocalist like D.L. Roth was not easy, and the band rightly played it safe by opting for Hagar (who was already quite well-known at the time). The album comes across as tougher compared to its predecessor, which had embraced softer sounds... "Dreams" remains in my top five of their most beautiful tracks!
Whitesnake: Whitesnake
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Known also as "1987," this album is considered by everyone to be the pinnacle of Whitesnake's discography. For me, it falls just a bit short of "Saints," but the work is of undeniable quality... From "Still of The Night" (with clear references to Led Zeppelin) to "You’re Gonna Break My Heart Again" (not included in all versions), the record is a pleasure to listen to. A note of disappointment for the reworkings of "Crying in the Rain" and "Here I Go Again," as the originals remain the best.
Whitesnake: Slide It In
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
I gave it a 5 just for sentimental reasons... "Slide it In" is indeed my favorite album by Whitesnake! A fresh, tight Hard Rock with a band in stunning shape! Many of the band's classics are present on this LP. It's not the best (for me, that remains "Saints and Sinners"), but it’s an album absolutely worthy of a listen (indeed, repeated listens...)
Whitesnake: Saints And Sinners
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
It's probably their best work, at least for me... Among the tracks, the original versions of "Crying In The Rain" and "Here I Go Again" stand out (which I definitely prefer over the subsequent reworkings)... The title track, "Young Blood," "Victim Of Love," etc., are also very beautiful; in short, it's an amazing album!
ZZ Top: Tres Hombres
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Their peak for sure... Citing "La Grange" as the best track on the album (and perhaps of their career) is a must, but other songs like "Jesus Just Left Chicago," "Precious And Grace," etc., also justify the purchase of the record...

Sure, but the real masterpiece is "Pavel Hits Moreno Again." Jokes aside, great stuff, even though I've never been a fan; excellent listening and maximum respect. Unlike some of your "proteges" like Kiss, Motley Crue, GunziRozzi, etc. :D

Great album of Texas blues. When beards were still short...
  • Aquarius27

"Protected" what a big word!! Just because someone doesn't like a band doesn’t mean they necessarily suck, right? Then again, maybe I would use the word protected for the "Kiss" because they were one of the first bands that got me into this kind of music, the first ones I saw live, etc., so I do get a bit mad when someone talks badly about them, especially since to criticize a band that has released more than 20 albums (some of which are crap, I must say), you really need to know everything, not just one randomly listened-to album... As for the "Motley" and "Guns" though, I wouldn’t use that word... I like them, just like I like a bunch of other bands, but I wouldn’t put them on the list of “bands of my life”...
But the fact remains that I like them, and I don’t care much about other people's opinions, because in the end, it’s about whether I like them or not :D ?? And anyway, "Pavel Hits Moreno Again" remains unbeatable for everyone :DDD

I actually wanted to write it Hell :)
  • hjhhjij

In fact, it was in quotes. "Just because someone doesn't like a band doesn’t mean they necessarily suck, okay?!" In fact, I think they suck, and I don’t respect them at all :D I know all the Kiss albums up to the mid-'80s, my dear; sure, I haven't listened to them in a while, but that's obvious. Some of those from the '70s don’t bother me at all, but still, they don't drive me crazy either. As for the other two, I won't budge—pure crap, but that's just my opinion; I don't think I need to specify that every time. "Pavel Hits Moreno Again" is one of those songs that marks your life... and your ankle.
  • Aquarius27
    3 jun 15
But I'm also fine with the fact that you hate "Kiss," "Motley," and "Guns," no problem... Taste is taste... Some people dislike "Led Zeppelin," "Black Sabbath," and "The Rolling Stones," so I'm not surprised... Maybe you try to reason with someone, but if you think they suck, I respect that! I mean, in the end, everyone is free to listen to whatever they want and judge "crap" or "chocolate" as they see fit... But if I may say so, I find it strange that "Appetite" disgusts you... I can understand the general dislike for "Motley," but I just don't get "Appetite"... Also, because as I wrote on the page "pavel hits moreno again," you "know your stuff," so I'm quite surprised...

Indeed, I don't understand, Appetite is cool.
ZZ TOP: ZZ TOP'S FIRST ALBUM

A very good debut, this "First Album" by ZZ Top... Sure, not all the tracks shine with originality, but the final result is more than commendable...

Great debut, but they improve even more in Rio Grande Mud. Still, from '70 to '79, all excellent works; Eliminator is still good but already too high-tech for my taste. Great chicks in the videos on MTV though...
  • Aquarius27
    3 jun 15
Rio Grande Mud shows a more mature band for sure.... Then I agree, up to Deguello it's great, but El Loco isn't bad either...
ZZ Top: Fandango!
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
An album that alternates between live tracks and studio recordings, resulting in an excellent final product... An album that nearly reaches perfection, so by default I give it 5, but there's little difference between 4 stars and 5! This record is among the best in their discography! Long live ZZ Top!

Tush is something incredible, soon to be on my playlist. An album of excellent quality, in my opinion it ranks on the podium with Tres Hombres (predictable, but it's their best) and Rio Grande Mud. Have you ever listened to Tejas? Anyway, great band at least until Deguello, then the beards grew too long, too many synthesizers and too much MTV for my taste. Back to Tush, it was one of the first riffs I learned on guitar, it always gives me a great rush of adrenaline, even though there are many other great songs on this album...
  • Aquarius27
    15 feb 16
Tush is probably, along with "La Grange" and "Sharp Dressed Man," the best track from the bearded ones... Yes, I’ve listened to Tejas (which unfortunately is still not in my collection) and it definitely deserves it, as you rightly mentioned... After too many synthesizers, certainly Hell, but a couple of good albums like Antenna and Rhythmeen (not to mention Eliminator) still came out even during that period!
