With Di'Anno, it was a whole different story.

Of course, it's a nice record, but you know I prefer the first and self-titled debut. Don't get me wrong: if it weren't for that logo, I would have given it 5 stars as well. Unfortunately, I picked it up after the Dickinson era and I immediately experienced this disorienting sonic jolt that I still find hard to digest. It's an Achilles' heel that has no justifications, as Killers was composed before Bruce joined the band, so it should be evaluated more impartially, actually imagining what musical direction Maiden would have taken if Paul had stayed with them. Unfortunately, it's a virus from which I can't seem to heal! Great record anyway, there's no doubt about that: the title track + "Murders in the Rue Morgue" + "Wrathchild" = pure anthology!

P.S. I also prefer Dickinson, but some songs are simply better sung by Di Anno, like "Murders in..." which Bruce sings as if it were a Crusade, and I don’t think that works in that case. Paul's sharp tone is better!

Opinions that are more than legitimate. I, for example, bought "Killers" as my first album (back then it was on cassette) by Iron Maiden. Di'Anno's voice is the one I still carry in my heart and that I prefer.

But this is a bomb, like the first one, like piece of mind, like powerslave, like somewhere in time, like seventh son of a seventh son... the best of Iron, and then I think x factor and brave new world are great too, maybe I'm obsessed though...

For me, it's the best of the Irons. Complete in every aspect, and Paul Di Anno's voice is perfect in the gritty context of the album. Then the wind changed...

Another Life is a scandalous clone of "Iron Maiden."

If we really want to split hairs, Iron's songs all sound a bit similar but only because they have a very strong trademark (Steve Harris)… from here to say that Another Life is a clone of Iron Maiden… I’d suggest you just drop it; you’ll come off better.
