if you choose to play along, you might actually have a lot of fun
Heralds of the Liverpool renaissance at the dawn of the 80s, Ian McCulloch and his bandmates experienced the transition from post-punk to a highly evocative and melodically impactful psychedelic pop.

Now, to complete the circle of the Crucial Three (who were these?), we just need the definition of Wah! (or Na = Poo! The art of bluff).

Elton John: Madman Across The Water

the pinnacle of Elton's production, an album that reaches near perfection, for the quality of the songs, the production, the orchestral arrangements, the musicians playing on it, and the overall homogeneity.
Before Elvis, the world was in black and white. Then he arrived... and here comes a magnificent technicolor.

Eric Clapton: Eric Clapton

One must have felt really good at 461 Ocean Drive in Miami, judging by the relaxed expression on Eric Clapton's face in the beautiful cover photo. Technically, Clapton lingers too much on the slide guitar. Good work, but not essential.
  • It's curious that Clapton, the instrumentalist whom the world has almost unanimously (I, for example, disagree) bestowed a true royal throne, with all his love for the blues, has not been able to transfer the same allure, charm, and following he quickly and permanently garnered with his normal guitar technique to his slide technique. I agree with your judgment on this work, adding on my part that almost all of his albums are not essential.

I would take the throne away from him; his blues is so perfect, and perfection is something very far from the true concept of blues.
  • Now don’t exaggerate. Clapton isn't the best, but he's not just any guitarist either. His very fluid and elegant phrasing, albeit very much for licks, as they say, without a good melodic vein, is a pleasure to listen to, and his bluesy singing, which has improved over the years, is excellent.
