The Engel/Walker ceases to be an unusual singer-songwriter and transforms into a visionary who deconstructs the song form with a marked cinematic and expressionist attitude. The result is an absolute masterpiece (which is overshadowed by an excessive legend that promotes it as unlistenable and/or inaccessible) that terrifies or melancholizes depending on the circumstances. Needless to say, full marks.

I believe this is, along with the debut, clearly Hackett's best solo album among the electric ones. He won't be able to match these levels again. With the acoustic/classical albums, it’s another story.

I agree with you, although in the new millennium he released "Out of the Tunnel's Mouth" and "Beyond the Shrouded Horizon," which are beautiful from the first to the last song.

I found them quite professional, but as it should be at this point in his career. Exactly what you would expect from him and not more; however, you’re right, these are two works well beyond the mere dignified task, there are some beautiful pieces within.

"Every day" has always fascinated me; the solo is impressive and is a great demonstration of Hackett's note suspension—nothing compared to many metal techies and other stuff. "The virgin and the gypsy" could easily be compared to many bucolic ballads of the Canterbury sound.
