A listening delight (at least for me)!

I only like the opening; I find the rest boring.

Yes, O Fortuna is the best moment. For the rest, it doesn't even seem like a work from the 20th century... at least compared to all the other composers I know.

If you really like it, I recommend the best version, that of Eugen Jochum. Psycho, of course, it seems clear to me that Orff wanted to give an ancient tone to the work (he uses Latin, except in 2) being drawn from medieval poems.

Hi muffin, it actually seems to me more like a work from the 19th century, while I only perceive antiquity in the text. In this sense, I was saying that it doesn't seem like a 20th-century author to me. However, I only know this work, and to give a judgment I would need to listen to other works by Orff.

Hi Psyco, I only know this one by Orff as well, but it seems to me to evoke more Renaissance atmospheres than those of the 19th century. Moreover, the fact that a strong emphasis is placed on rhythm rather than harmony and melody makes it more comparable to a search like that of Stravinsky than to musicians of the 1800s.
