The failure is and will remain one of the mysteries of music. The album is different from the first, perhaps more immediate and radio-friendly, but it is still one of the great albums of the era.

they created their own grunge atmospheres that were still in vogue at the time to produce something that, as far as I can tell, wasn’t around. Listening chronologically to their albums from "leisure," through "parklife" and "great escape," up to this self-titled one, it seems to me that their music was the perfect soundtrack of my life from ages 15 to 20. As I grew, they grew too. Perhaps that's why I loved them so much.
