Napoli Centrale: Napoli Centrale
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
Naples as a blend of different races and ethnicities, as a means of denouncing slavery, the proletariat, emigration, and the wealth of the powerful. An apocalyptic prog-jazz-rock masterpiece with grandiose lyrics, acidic and angry, irreverent and boisterous. Miles Davis and Weather Report meet the desolate landscape of the Neapolitan outskirts (in this, the cover perfectly conveys the concept). Senese and Del Prete are monuments.

On newsstands until Friday (when Palepoli is released). I enjoy.

Then there's also Rocchi's Magic Flight. It's enjoyed for three.

I'm getting the whole collection since I didn't have any of these on CD; sometimes the newsstand has wonderful ideas! I'm still waiting for a collection of the VdGG discography!
Neil Young: On the Beach
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
The intensity and emotion with which this record is played make it simply unique. The title track and "See the Sky about the Rain" are simply heartbreaking in their resignation, while the two blues tracks (especially "Revolution") are incredibly tight and badass. "Ambulance Blues" is the INFINITE. A masterpiece of Crazy Horse, closing the trilogy of pain.

Nothing else to say about an album that hasn't lost any of its shimmering beauty over the decades; for me, however, "Harvest" remains unbeatable. Hi Syd, your definitions are always timely and precise. Brau fiol...

A deep, sad, accusatory record. A "safety valve" for Young who wasn't doing well during that time, struggling with drugs, alcohol, marital crises, and the illness of his young son. Ambulance, a true masterpiece, like many tracks on the album...

Of the trilogy of pain, this is the album of resignation; just listen to Motion Picture, another masterpiece. Ambulance Blues is worth a whole career. It's difficult to categorize Neil's albums; there are so many beautiful ones, but this one competes with After the Goldrush as the absolute best for me.

You all know by now that this album sucks, right? Particularly, "Ambulance Blues" really sucks.

And also vaguely acid (title-track) and at times angry (Southern Man, of course).

    Amazing album.

The discs of a lifetime. I can't define it.
New Trolls: Concerto grosso (n.1)
CD Audio I have it ★★★★★
A (superb) masterpiece of Italian Rock, with a unique peculiarity. The four movements of the Concerto grosso are simply sublime, flawless in their homogeneity and fabulous inspiration, while the 20-minute improvisation is absolutely monstrous. Classical meets King Crimson and Jethro Tull. "To die, to sleep, maybe to dream." 9.5.

Great album, melody and perfect mix of opera and rock. A must-have record without a doubt.

Beautiful for me too, and definitely TOO beautiful for them as well, who then just slacked off so much.

Poetry, purity, fragility. All in less than half an hour. Tears.

A life-changing album indeed (practically for just voice and acoustic guitar, this essentiality leads the listener even more directly into the troubled world of this EXTRAORDINARY singer-songwriter, misunderstood in life, unfortunately)... by the way, this year marks 40 years since his passing...

Nirvana: Nevermind
CD Audio I have it ★★★★
Heard it again after years, but I must say that time hasn't dulled the fond memory I had. A classic, for better or worse, of the '90s. A nice album, although I prefer the previous one.

The fact remains that 'Bleach' and especially 'In Utero' leave this one in the dust. I wasn't crazy about it even back in late 1991 when I bought it.

In fact, Silas, I agree with you. This one is quite nice, but the other two (especially "Bleach") are superior, no doubt about it. :)

It's always a matter of taste, but as far as I'm concerned, Bleach doesn't even come close to Nevermind. The evolution from Bleach to Nevermind is evident in every way, in my opinion. I understand that many might prefer Bleach, especially since we are talking about two completely different albums, but from my perspective, Nevermind is a masterpiece, while Bleach is not. Maybe In Utero is even superior to me (but it's one of my favorite albums, so I'm biased).
