It's one of the least successful! Let’s reread the reviews and comments on his Blue Note works—not from me, if you don’t want! It's not pointless controversy; it’s just that it doesn’t sink in your heads at all, or you don’t follow Debaser, or you just don’t care, and we keep shooting crap after crap.

Tumbler is a beautiful album, but still immature... the battle is among the next three (and keep in mind that I'm re-evaluating One World quite a bit)!

I disagree. "The Tumbler" is "simply" a record of typical baroque-folk, but compared to the debut (which is also beautiful), it is already a mature album in its genre; it just follows a well-defined style and the lessons of certain specific masters. In the albums of the '70s, Martyn evolved, experimented, and fused genres with immense skill and originality, creating a unique, unmistakable style that is entirely HIS. However, this does not detract from the fact that "The Tumbler" is a folk record that is already well-focused, highlighting Martyn in the genre alongside various masters like Renbourn, Jansch, Graham, etc. As for "One World," I personally have little to reassess; it has always been considered a great album. I put it a step below these four, it’s true, but it’s really beautiful.

One of the most beautiful albums in the world of singer-songwriters. Hypnotic, moving, melancholy. The title track, dedicated by the author to his friend Nick Drake, is simply perfect.
