    More Canterbury than progressive.

Indeed, I would say it's almost a Canterbury ranking with some intrusions. Hot comments more related to taste, but just to talk: From Cos (great Belgian combo) I definitely prefer the first Postaeolian Train Robbery. From VDGG, I love every single second, but The last we can do is around the 4th position for me. Renaissance, according to my taste, I would have placed Turn of the Cards. The presence of Tonton Macute, Second Hand, and Cressida is a bit strange, especially at the expense of (for example) King Crimson. Anyway, all great albums; it's just a matter of taste and to foster the debate. Well done.

there was no canterbury among the site choices otherwise I would have separated...as for the tonton macoute...well, more prog than them!!! I link them to the sound of cressida's "asylum"

there was no canterbury on the list... that one by Tonton macoute is a nice prog I'd say!!! I assimilate their sound to the Cressida of "Asylum"

It's not a discussion of whether to include prog or not, but rather of prioritizing them over King Crimson, Soft Machine, Yes, Gentle Giant, Genesis... that seems a bit "particular" to me. Or when talking about Canterbury, why include the Cos and not National Health or Henry Cow, for example.

If we didn't have all these labels like jazzrockprogrockfusioncanterbury and whateverrock, wouldn't everything be much simpler?

We live by labels, you couldn’t do without them either. And how could you possibly put Henry Cow, Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Area, Dream Theater in the same pot???

The problem is that then a whole series of inconsistencies come out and everyone has their say. Once there was jazz, blues, and rock. Stop.
