In perfetta sintonia col Generatore, immenso.
Session-man molto versatile.http://www.debaser.it/presentation/lib/icons/text_linespacing.png

Absolutely great, for the quote by Guy Evans and for Collins being in the top 5 :). I recommend listening to Robert Wyatt (Soft Machine), Billy Cobham, and Pip Pyle from Gong and Hatfield and the North. Anyway, it already seems like an excellent ranking to me.

It also comes down to personal preference; just as you don’t adore Ian Paice (even acknowledging him as great), I’m not particularly fond of Carl Palmer, technically superior but with less heart for me!

Obviously, in the end, personal tastes matter a lot, and it is true that Palmer is very cold, despite being a technical monster.

I quote hjhhjij, as Italians more than Di Cioccio, I would see Walter Calloni or Fulvio Chirico, then for the rest, Max Roach, Art Blakey, and Ginger Baker should be mentioned. :)

Come on, you know Di Cioccio is off-limits. Unfortunately, Chirico isn't in the database (by the way, it's Furio, not Fulvio XD).

Undisputedly beautiful ranking, I only suggest a few names: Ainsley Dunbar, Jeff Porcaro, and Stewart Copeland (underrated).

I agree with Felo about those 3 greats (the first 2 he mentioned are top 5, the third is top 10). However, the most striking thing is that the immense GENE KRUPA cannot be in 20th place (it's absurd for him to be behind Taylor, Portnoy, and Collins). Krupa was the pioneer, the forefather, the true master, the most imaginative of them all, and without him, Buddy Rich wouldn't have been Buddy Rich! As for the rest, Keith Moon is too low. And the real Taylor is Arthur "Art" Taylor, not Roger...

The historical significance and genius of Krupa are beyond debate; all drummers owe him a lot. However, the ranking is of my personal favorites and those I know best, as well as those who have "inspired" my passion for the drums. It doesn't rely on historical importance or technique per se; it's worth mentioning that there are also a few musical genres involved that may appeal more or less to different people. And of course, the ranking is not definitive, even if the top spots are untouchable!

Edit: in any case, the 20th place was a temporary parking spot, since I went out for dinner :)

How did Fulvio come to me? -.- Anyway, I saw Di Cioccio and Chirico on the same stage, one after the other; Chirico stole the show from him.

    Roger Taylor is unwatchable!

But indeed Chirico is, in terms of power and technique, absolutely superior to Di Cioccio; however, the good Franz remains a great drummer, not like Fulvio, obviously XD, but he is still very good.

    Werner "Zappi" Diermaier?

I didn't know Chirico, but while hopping around forums and videos, I found some very interesting things! What can I say, Italians have nothing to envy from abroad; it’s a shame they are "covered" by the visibility of more renowned artists.
@berlinboy: Roger Taylor was my idol when I was young, and he will always be among my favorites. I see him too often criticized unjustly... just watch the live performance in Montreal from '81! And to quote you: it’s not an objective ranking!

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions! They will definitely be useful for my studies.

Finally, someone who recognizes the value of Roger Taylor! Congratulations! PS: What do you think of Ginger Baker and Tommy Aldridge? Happy New Year!

Roger Taylor in the '70s was kicking ass, no doubt about it!

Roger Taylor in the first 4-5 albums of Queen proved himself to be a skilled drummer without a doubt, really good.
