I can't agree: in the '80s there were people like George Michael, Madonna, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, and you're picking on the Cure and Sonic Youth? Come on... (oh, maybe you just don't like them, okay, it just strikes me to see two such bands among the worst). Springsteen may not be to everyone's taste, and he released some not exactly stellar things in the '80s like "Born in the USA" and "Tunnel of Love," but he also has two albums like "The River" and "Nebraska" that seem a lot superior to, I don't know, "Like a Virgin." I've never cared much for R.E.M. and the Ucciù, but I still believe that "Murmur" and "The Unforgettable Fire" are good albums compared to other dreadful stuff from that period. Anyway, whatever, de gustibus.
