I had just turned 18, and I don't remember why this LP caught my attention so much that I decided to buy it with the few high school student money I had in my pocket. Perhaps it was the cover, perhaps the title Aqua which seemed wrong to me, or perhaps curiosity told me: "Who is this Froese?" I put it back on the turntable now, and just like then, I let myself be carried away into his infinite worlds without thinking about studying Latin and Greek. A solo debut for the one who is one of the founders of Tangerine Dream, a record released by Virgin, and I already had some LPs from this label at home, so it was to be trusted. It fascinated me so much that I ordered another album from the little shop in my town selling records and sewing machines, it was Phaedra, which still remains a great work of theirs for me. We are deep in Kosmische Music, electronic at its best, keyboards and synthesizers that accompany us on a science fiction journey through the universe or perhaps, without going too far, the music takes us to a Norwegian forest with the 7 sister waterfalls, and there we await that moment in our mind that melodically shifts us towards the images we hold dearest. In front of us, the paintings of landscapes painted in watercolor, abstract melodies, soft experimentations in an essential musical art, perhaps sometimes a bit closed and dark but it captivates me with its ambient and plastic volatility, moldable wherever one wishes for every taste of the listener who wants to let go accompanied by the ether or chloroform.

The album opens with the lapping of the waters: it is the title track 'Aqua', a long piece, 17 minutes, which... does not limit itself to mere effects.
In the original edition, the liner notes advised to listen to side 2 of the vinyl with headphones to fully appreciate the revolutionary Artificial Head System.
