Here where I am, on the ground, it's hard to shake off the feeling that time flows without purpose, and that one cannot truly grasp anything amidst its mocking folds that swirl between two boundaries of non-existence.

Here, in this reed bed that a wind absorbed in its thoughts has forgotten to shake, at the edge of a pond whose utmost effort is to reflect my image without ripples, empathizing in solidarity with my immobility.

But by looking up towards the sky in the evening - as everyone knows! - one finds oneself in the presence of the stars, at the court of their shimmering and mysterious majesties; and there comes a moment when something stirs within the chest, a breath of renewed tension that seems to want to break free from the chains of the everyday to be projected into a new dimension.

Even if just for once, beyond "the gravity that overcomes my reasons."

Duster's music thrives precisely on this suspension between the earthly and the ethereal, between resigned lowlands and adventurous heights, between inertia and journey: after all, one couldn't expect much different from a band that moves within the grooves of slowcore - the ultimate expression of self-reflection - only to allow themselves, at the right moment, escapades into the infinite worthy of an "intimate" space rock, or to lose themselves in dreamy atmospheres born of the best dream pop intentions.

Everything condensed into typically short tracks: because an emotion is as intense as it is brief, by its very nature.

"Contemporary Movement" (2000) is their second and last LP. More introspective and less oriented towards the stars compared to the previous, magnificent "Stratosphere," yet still moving.

Indeed, their albeit brief career - including EPs, bootlegs, and various rarities - is rich with gems; and the lo-fi production only serves to make them even more fascinating and "melancholically precious."
