THE REVIEW

New work for these Californian guys, who went unnoticed with the previous (albeit remarkable) "Leitmotif".
Here we are faced with a "monumental" work that remains ingrained in the skin and clings like leeches: this time they decided to get serious... and they have fully succeeded in their intent.

Erroneously placed in the Nu Metal cauldron, Dredg have nothing to do with numetal, in fact, Dredg have nothing to do with any other group, they make their own history.
Imagine a combination of sounds that can remind you of Tool, Pink Floyd, and King Crimson, and you might have a vague idea of what Dredg are.

Melancholy reigns supreme, and throughout the entire CD Gavin Hayes' voice rises with magnificent arrogance, and it is precisely his way of singing that makes the work different from the usual... at times unsettling.
The songs are all beautiful and never predictable; the noisy temptations of the debut give way to delicate and emotional sounds, supported by a still powerful rhythmic base. Among them "Of The Room", "Same Ol'Road", "Sorry But It's Over" could easily serve as the soundtrack for a dramatic movie (I think of "...One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest").

The chosen package is the flagship; flipping through the internal booklet, you breathe the air of an "unknown" world, the illustrations always refer to a "dream Phenomena"... a sort of state of sonic hallucination called "Sleep Paralysis" with equally written testimonies from those who in past years have been struck by this metaphysical ailment.
An ethereal dream, a fetal memory, it almost seems like wandering in the sky wrapped in a bubble of amniotic fluid... these are the sensations. Once this masterpiece enters your system, it's like a drug... it's total addiction.

Congratulations to Dredg for breaking a lance in favor of music made with the heart, beyond the barriers of the music business that influences so many bands... but not them.
Thank you truly.

These songs entered my mind like lightning, making me realize I had finally discovered a group optimistically ignored by the Italian music scene!

El Cielo is undoubtedly capable of projecting us into all of this—balancing sadness and anger, leaving the listener the responsibility to create a sound alcove for their emotional state.
