I don't know why, but listening to "Portraits" by Turin's Drawing Memories, I feel a distinct sensation that I'm dealing with a proposal on the same wavelength as what Hopes Die Last has done. It might be the vocals (which clash face to face between screamo, growl, and melodic), or perhaps the core-oriented structure of the songs, but honestly, this is the fixed point spinning in my head while listening. However, don't take this as a critique guys, the five tracks on this EP are indeed well-crafted, at times even surprising through some unusual choices made. But as often happens, the limitation in such productions is always the same: finding oneself in a scenario that currently offers no artistic innovation, with an infinite number of bands competing fiercely for a spot in the sun that has long since ceased to exist. I hope I'm wrong, but surely in cases like this, the best solution remains the same: dare, even at the risk of seeming out of place. If you limit yourself to being a good alternative band (as in their case), the regrets in the long run will be many. It's better to start from some interesting elements, like the excellent title track (with a very post sound flavor) and to give your project interesting stylistic traits. A good starting base, but it urgently needs a generous dose of courage.
