THE REVIEW

Dragonlord was born as a project by Eric Peterson for his passion for symphonic black metal. The strong influences of Cradle of Filth first and foremost, and Dimmu Borgir, are noticeable, however there are significant thrash death contaminations due, in my opinion, to the lineup mostly consisting of musicians more akin to the aforementioned genres than to black.
Among these, it's important to highlight the presence of Dr. Steve DiGiorgio, who, as usual, delivers an outstanding performance, but he's not the only one because the blond Viking Jon Allen also brings a solid and precise rhythm suitable for the genre, and the instrumental and vocal performance of Eric Peterson himself should not be underestimated.
The recording could have perhaps given a bit more attention to DiGiorgio's bass work and slightly toned down Lyle Livingston's work, who weaves remarkable keyboard layers, sometimes overpowering.

For a debut album, it is still a success for this group of all-stars.
