Hello everyone. Let's say right away that I've only discovered DeBaser a few weeks ago, purely by chance while surfing the web. A great surprise. Congratulations to everyone. Being not an unplugged fan but rather a damn rocker ranging from rock to metal, to death, to thrash, to nu-metal (an ugly name for describing a genre), I was very pleased to find albums that are dear to me. Unfortunately, I didn't find a band I really admire. But how! How is it possible not to find any reviews of albums belonging to DOWNSET???!!! Yes, you heard right, DOWNSET! Never heard of them? I bet, since most people listen to RATM, a band that criticizes corporations and then records for Sony. Crazy stuff. Anyway, that's their business.

The album I am reviewing is Check Your People, released in 2000.
There are bands you can't criticize, impossible for genre enthusiasts not to appreciate works like this. Check Your People is one of those true hardcore records to throw in the face of those who insist on buying soulless records. To those who say rock is dead.

Pure adrenaline, pure violence, unheard-of violence. (much more than commercial RATM) The album slightly differs from the other two, the debut and "Speak A Dead Language," even if the impact is always very strong, from the first to the last song. Songs like "Fallen Off," "Together," "Check Your People," "Test Of My Heart" are a spit in the face of everyday crap, but especially against their crap, as they can't sweep it away being Hispanic/Americans and not politicized like RATM.

With DOWNSET I say: the will to always stay tied to the same genre, not compromising with anyone, distancing themselves from innovation for the sake of it. Absolutely a must-have, must-own, must turn up the volume!!!
