Dover is a Spanish band consisting of Cristina Llanos, Amparo Llanos, Alvaro Diez, and Jesus Antunez. They sing in English, with Cristina's beautiful voice that at times seems weak, lacking body and character. "My Secret People" and "Better Day," the opening songs, are two beautiful indie rock tracks with simple, straightforward melodic solos. However, the third song, "The Weak Hour Of The Rooster," already resembles No Doubt, a slow ballad that fortunately picks up again in the final part. "Lady Barbuda" features heavy guitars “shave your legs, I don’t want to be one…one of those” what could they be talking about? Issues with Spanish women's hair removal? Indie-rock songs all built on the same verse/chorus/verse structure, with a melodic solo in the chorus, pleasant. It almost seems they can't decide between slow, soft parts and heavy guitars, attempting an eclectic approach that results in being neither one nor the other, pleasant at times but never truly captivating. They don't even have a catchphrase, a line that grabs you and comes back to mind when you least expect it. It would have been better if they had sung in Spanish; in that case, they might have seemed more provincial for the stylistic choices, but undoubtedly more interesting.
