THE REVIEW

I came across this promo by a Milanese darkwave artist: Dorcha, also known as Stefano Gagliardo. He has already released some demos with his previous band (Kubla) and now he has returned to his first love, which is Dark music with post-punk inspiration (The Cure, to be clear).
The promo contains 3 tracks: La Fama, Qualcosa già vista, Dark.

I think Dorcha tried to encapsulate in this promotional work songs that are quite different in rhythm and sound, in order to give as heterogeneous an image as possible of his expressive potential in this niche genre.
The common thread, in my opinion, lies in the density of the lyrics and the heaviness of the atmospheres, melancholic and sweet (Dark and Qualcosa già vista) or hallucinated and transformed into highly cryptic verses (La Fama).

It doesn't seem that there are major concessions to market conventions, like catchy choruses and song structures made of classic verse-bridge-chorus sequences. We are dealing with extremely free songs in form and expression, both in lyrics and sound.
Obviously, we expect in the near future works of broader scope, that coherently and exhaustively develop the guidelines laid out in this promo.

The provisional judgment is completely positive: the talent is there and it’s noticeable.
