Dj Shocca a.k.a Roc Barakys, is one of the most well-known beatmakers in our country. He officially debuted in 1998 with ABC, an album with mc Uno, but we are still far from the glories of the following years. He returned the following year with Acciaio, the first and only LP of Centro 13 (Ciacca, Mistaman, Dj Shocca, and Frank Siciliano) with much more satisfying results than the previous one.
In 2001, the commendable Colpi In Aria, Mistaman's debut EP, arrived.
But it was in 2004 that the consecration arrived: Shocca produced what is one of the most known and appreciated rap albums of those years, 60 Hz.
It is an album where each track features a different artist, in the style of Novecinquanta by Fritz.
After a brief intro, the first piece is The Industry Don't Understand in which we find the Belgian rapper Rivalcapone and Esa a.k.a El Presidente (Otierre, Gente Guasta) on the mic.
The second piece is Adesso Lo So by the essential Mistaman, where he once again delights us with his flow and his always excellent writing.
One of the most well-known tracks of the work is track number 4, Ghettoblaster by the Palermo duo Stokka and Madbuddy, a really nice piece.
After a brief instrumental, we find Rendez Vous Col Delirio with Club Dogo, at the time still "those of Mi Fist" (lol) in one of my favorite pieces of the CD.
Dimmi Che by Nesli is one of the least inspired pieces on the album; it would have been better to call Fibra instead.
We return to extremely high levels with Stupidi, featuring the ever-excellent Bassi Maestro, who the following year will release Hate, one of his best CDs.
After an instrumental, we find Yoshi a.k.a Tormento (Sottotono) in his Fotografie, a nice track but not up to the beat.
Primo from Corveleno is featured in one of the most powerful tracks on the album, Sempre Grezzo (a perfect title for our Primero).
Notte Blu is simply perfect; Frank Siciliano with his beautiful lyrics gives us the feeling of walking on the street at night.
After the usual instrumental, we find ATPC in Ancora Loro, in one of the worst pieces of the work.
Another instrumental follows with Vedremo Domani featuring Rido, excellent lyrics for a really nice piece.
Bolo By Night we all know, since it will also appear on Fabiano Detto Inoki. It's a pity about the presence of Royal Mehdi which lowers the quality of the piece.
After yet another instrumental which in this case is not by Shocca but by Zonta, we find Bisturi with an inspired Shezan Il Ragio (known primarily for his collaborations with Uomini Di Mare).
A title similar to the previous one is Coltelli (have you ever noticed?) in which we find Colle Der Fomento, who have rarely disappointed fans in their long career.
To close the work, an instrumental.
This 60 Hz, although it was released just recently, has become a milestone in Italian rap, in my opinion in its genre second only to Novecinquanta by Fritz Da Cat, and not by much.
Ok, start insulting me in the comments :)
