High School Student A: "Hey, you absolutely have to listen to this song!"

High School Student B: "Let me hear it! But it's The Final Countdown!"

High School Student A: "Yes! Covered by Children of Bodom, our favorites!"

High School Student B: "But it doesn’t sound like the legendary Alexi's voice and there are too few solos."

Indeed, student B (a young Evil Elf) was right: it wasn’t the Children of Bodom playing that cover, nor the “legendary” Alexi Laiho singing it. So who was it? After difficult online searches, the truth was discovered: it was the Dispatched. "Who??? Never heard of them!" Poor Dispatched, known only for being the ones everyone thought were Children of Bodom playing Europe (it has to be said that Children of Bodom did have a thing for silly covers). The problem is that Dispatched weren't the only clone group of the Bodom kids playing "The Final Countdown," because there were also the Norther.

And now let’s play a game! Spot the difference between this and this! Then express your preference in the appropriate comments!

What else can be said: you are faced with melodeath riffs and vocals supported by exhausting power metal rhythms in the service of melodies worthy of the theme song of some cartoon where the hero has to slay numerous dark monsters. The whole thing lasts about fifty minutes, which is an eternity. The final touch of class is given by the cover art in perfect nerd sci-fi style.

For the "Skeletons in the closet" series.

[Europe Cover]

We're leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back,
To earth, who can tell ?
I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

It's the final countdown...

We're heading for Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found
I'm sure that we'll all miss her so.
