It was the end of October '92.
In the midst of Death Metal season; the most ruthless, radical, raw one. Kicks in the face and punches in the stomach.
It's the Swedish Dismember that spew out these eleven minutes; a few seconds of intro and four murderous, devouring songs.
Handled by Nuclear Blast, a German label among the most important in spreading the vile drift of Thrash Metal.
Later, the primal release will be reissued, adding a track.
But I hold tight to the original that condenses in a very short time all the basic features of the "Dismemberian" sound.
Guitars that emit explosive notes in lower tones; with that "crushing" background that makes them so recognizable, just like their cousins Entombed.
The voice is of a person possessed by demons; evil and distressing to the limit of cacophony in several passages.
Drums launched at schizophrenic speed, dominant, devastating; annihilating and infecting all.
Maybe there is a bass too, but it can hardly be heard in the total auditory chaos.
Making the debuting At The Gates seem like innocent schoolkids (partly come on...)
Put to shame, banned by many countries because of the cover image.
Their unhealthy peak; or maybe not, thinking of the subsequent "Indecent and Obscene."
Few, very few Death Metal works can stand up to such cynical and ferocious violence...SOON TO BE DEAD...
Astounding Dismember...I WISH YOU HELL...
I'm done...in eleven minutes.
