A spiritual journey immersed in distant horizons. A deserted beach upon which the hope of a utopia lies inert, caressed by the exhilaration of a celestial wind. The art and magic of Dismal is captivating. Their music has the gift of giving us joy, romanticism, passion, a harmony that makes us dreamlike, as if absorbed by a melody imbued with theatricality.
The work we will delve into is characterized by a sort of fusion between Dark Ambient, Gothic, and predominantly classical structures, the use of orchestral instruments has always been a source of inspiration for the band, the drafting of the symphonic parts emerges like gushes of an elixir hidden deep within, buried like in a hidden spring in the dark, the rise of droplets slowly reaching towards the water. The journey begins with "La Conversione Di Shani", a choral march adorned with exquisite oriental shades, from here then comes "Malia", one of the most interesting pieces of the concept, a sweet and arcane melody lulled by surreal atmospheres, dreamy violins, harmonious guitars surround the track, similar to deep, dark eyes about to swallow everything that crosses their macabre gaze. Then a piano, a sinuous voice lies on the intrinsic palm of a floor swept by the versatile song of a fairy. Classical transcriptions, prestigious rolling arpeggios accompany the vocal lyrical parts, as they are filled with intense interpretation, forming a phenomenal alchemy between songwriting, theatricality, and high-level instrumental structures. "Lana" and "La Danza Del Ragno Di Cristallo" are the gothic march of eternal praise that acts as a link to the following "Shiva Li Neve", a wonderful song rich in pathos characterized by incisive intervals, multiple sounds that assume a strictly Ethereal conception, creativity and ingenuity are clear examples of pure passion and dedication towards the art of notes, written on a musical staff that languishes in torpor and bliss.
The marvel and amazement continue as we are welcomed by the diamond highlight of the entire album "Anima Sciolta", the chest that encloses all the sadness and melancholy of the concept, edged by pure and romantic roses that cease upon it in eternal slumber.
To define Dismal as challenging music is an understatement; we can identify them as a sonic preciousness, a rarity, a relic to hold tightly within one's soul.
