Recently, I've been coming across albums in the most unusual ways; not living in Italy anymore for a couple of years, in order to keep myself updated on what’s happening, I need to have a lot of patience and time to discover what's brewing in the so-called underground.
I came across this CD, the classic do-it-yourself product, 80 copies printed, a Polaroid as a cover - thanks to this blog.
As for the music, it consists of three (long) tracks for a little over thirty minutes. Various layers of sound - long, extended, hypnotic sounds... -
have been filtered through the use of pedals and microphones. The result is a disorienting experience, no melody or rhythm for the ear
to latch onto but rather a continuous flow of sound, halfway between the soundtrack of a dream and restless urban landscapes.
It might be cliché, but in a noir-sci-fi themed film, these sounds would not be out of place at all.

The strangest thing is that the music manages to be both icy and cold, on the other hand, even the band name in German suggests northern latitudes... yet it is also enveloping and soft. Considering that it all - I forgot to mention: this is a one-man band - was put together during a lazy afternoon, one wonders what the result could be with more resources and more time at disposal, given that awareness and personality are there.
One of those happy cases where music manages to shape imaginary landscapes.
