THE REVIEW

Diamond Vampires is a very fresh music project. The only official release is this 12” which came out in February via Amateur Records.

The project in the 3 proposed tracks ("Friday Nights" / "Friday Nights (Telephones remix)" / "Lumiere") immediately clarifies its sound imprint: in addition to approaching nu/disco (and the hype that in recent years has been generating around it thanks to figures like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas) at low and steady bpm, at the same time it is clearly indebted to the "cosmic music" of almost forty years ago and the soundscapes that distinguished it (the lesson of Tangerine Dream is fully heard; in the self-titled EP to be released, among the other unreleased tracks, “models” reprises a loop of "Ricochet" for the entire duration of the track)

I took this project as an example not so much for its inherent value (which is still to be established, too soon to draw conclusions, although the taste is perceptible (I have already well-mull over the still unreleased EP)) but to highlight the return of electronic traditions of "kraut-cosmic" style also through tracks that wink at the clubs across the Channel: a return that thanks to the success of artists like Gavin Russom seems to have been successful for some years already even for the """large""" audience.

(I submit that this is my first review)

Summary by Bot

Diamond Vampires presents a fresh music project with their debut 12" featuring three tracks rooted in nu-disco and cosmic music traditions. Their style combines steady, low bpm rhythms inspired by contemporary artists like Lindstrom and Prins Thomas with influences from 1970s krautrock pioneers such as Tangerine Dream. While still early to fully assess the project's impact, the review highlights a resurgence of cosmic electronic music appealing to both niche and broader audiences.
