Federico Fiumani (alias Diaframma) had a contract with Ricordi, for which he made "In perfetta solitudine" and "Da siberia al prossimo week-end" in '90.

The attempt by the record label for the third album was to promote it through the radio circuit by participating in Sanremo and creating a "commercial" work. But Federico is not really a person inclined to compromise and, in order to defend the purity of his songs, he freed himself from his contract to return to his ideal dimension.

After "Anni luce," which marked Fiumani's return to the underground circuit, he put together a high-level cast featuring the collaboration of the great Gianni Maroccolo (Litfiba, C.S.I.) in production, Francesco Magnelli (C.S.I.) on keyboards, Pino Gulli (C.S.I.) on drums, Marco Bachi (Bandabardò) on bass, and Mara Redeghieri (Ustmamò) on backing vocals…

The album, from 1994, is "Il ritorno dei desideri," a title that conveys Fiumani's desire to make music again and to awaken his more rock soul, after decidedly more intimate and singer-songwriter records. This desire is conveyed in the tracks that exude a punk spirit (il sogno, underground, è la crisi) with aggressive guitars and screaming vocals: there is anger and pain and the attempt to shout it to the world. But there are also softer, more melancholic moments (trattami bene, una stagione nel cuore, metropolitana ore 9 e 30, labbra blu…), ballads, rock'n'roll (mi fai morire), and finally, an instrumental piece.

A well-played album, with long instrumental phrasing and guitar solos, it is a rock work, played in its infinite expressions.
