i Desecration are a badass band, these Welsh musicians have reached their sixth studio album yet they remain incredibly faithful to their way of playing Death Metal, brutal and uncompromising, a path continued by the band since that masterpiece Inhuman that launched them onto the international scene.
As I have already mentioned, the band remains true to their sonic standards, unleashing a Brutal Death Metal where it's impossible to talk about melody; it really seems that the band is seeking continuity with the past. In my opinion, the strong point of Desecration is the excellent songwriting that allows the band, even when presenting a genre that more or less repeats itself, to unleash completely different songs from one another with various tempo changes that can get into the listener's ears after just one listen. There's no need to discuss the excellent technical abilities of the three musicians, the riffing is extremely violent and sharp, the drummer alternates super-fast blast beats with slower parts where the double bass pedal takes the lead, the work of the bassist is quite good but as happens in many of these albums, the bass is covered by the other instruments. Another plus point for the band is the excellent vocals of the singer, who alternates between very powerful growling, piercing screaming, and typical grindgore sounds.
The themes of the album are mainly splatter, and the titles of some songs like Black Putrefaction or Butyric Fermentation make us understand that unfortunately, the lyrics aren't the greatest, a completely different story for the music. From the good opening track When The Heart Stops Beating, you will be overwhelmed by the powerful wall of sound produced by the three. There's no point in naming any particular single episode, although my favorite is Maggots In Evidence which can summarize the entire philosophy of Desecration.
To conclude, if you're a fan of the genre, listen to it and you won't regret it, it will remain in your CD player for quite some time...
