So far, the reviews I have written about Depeche Mode were too serious, polished to the smallest detail (many have insulted me for excessive verbosity).
With this one, rather than review, I would like to convince once and for all with extreme impartiality those who couldn't care less about Depeche Mode.
That is why I chose one of the most hated singles by fans, "The Meaning of Love", the second release from the album "A Broken Frame" from 1982. My invitation is to listen to the song, to open a discussion about Depeche Mode.

Let me clarify: I present you with one of Depeche's most hated singles to understand what your opinion is: maybe you'll like it, who knows.... However, Julien Temple's video will never please you: a scandal of contemporary cinematic art, with amateurish set design.
As for the single, "The Meaning of Love" is a very jovial song, featuring Synth and British Wave elements, making it a little gem of 80s electronics. Depeche Mode have done much, much, much better, which is why I invite you to listen to it.

For the record, the B-side is a charming and delightful instrumental, "Oberkorn (is a small town)". Music that catapults us to Great Britain, music for those with an ear. Lyrics: more cliché than possible, I mean for Martin Gore! Nonetheless, a soundtrack of the love experiences lived in the Eighties. Synth, bandneon, a triumph of analog.

Listen to believe.

And to also give it to the picky fans....
