The Sicilians "Denovo" released four albums between 1985 and 1989, in prosperous and important years for Italian rock. Influenced by their surroundings (the New Wave) the group produces albums of an elegant, refined, eclectic, and sparkling pop-rock, demonstrating how good pop music can be made in Italy while maintaining high standards.

"Venuti dalle madonie a cercar carbone", produced by Battiato, is the group's last album from whose ashes Mario Venuti and Luca Madonia embarked on a respectable solo career.

The album, whose title plays with the names of the group members (Venuti, Madonia, Madonia, Carbone), perhaps the least edgy of the formation, features immediate and catchy tracks and sees the alternation of vocals between the two singer-composers Venuti and Madonia who play guitars, sax, and keyboards in a perhaps slightly affected manner but with a taste for melody.
