Dennis Gansel (born October 4, 1973 in Hannover) is a German film director known for Napola (2004) and Die Welle (2008).

Studied at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF).

Two DeBaser reviews examine Dennis Gansel's films with emphasis on themes of authoritarianism, education and youth. Napola (Before the Fall) and Die Welle (The Wave) are discussed as explorations of indoctrination and group dynamics. Reviewers highlight moral questions rather than offering neat answers.

For:Viewers interested in political/social cinema, education and authoritarianism, and contemporary German film.

It's up to us to decide whether to let this film slide over our skin, as we do with many other films, or whether to take the time to actually stop and reflect on what we've just seen.
