The seventh album by Delta V, titled "In fatti ostili", is excellent news for Italian music. Its release wasn’t a given, as it arrives five years after "Heimat" (2019), the record that marked the return of Carlo Bertotti and Flavio Ferri’s band after a thirteen-year hiatus from recording.
With the presence of singer Marti confirmed alongside the two founders, the album stands out for its high compositional quality, combined with an intense and non-trivial “electronic pop”—a stylistic signature immediately recognizable in the group. A touch of prestige comes from the participation of Steve Hackett (ex Genesis), who contributes a guitar solo on the closing track “I raggi B.”
Although a superficial listen is gratifying for its melody, it is by delving into the lyrics that the work truly reveals its completeness. "In fatti ostili" offers a lucid snapshot of contemporary society, dominated by insularity, individualism, and, indeed, hostility. Rooted in Milan (mentioned in two tracks), the album becomes the spokesperson for a sense of collective bewilderment, reminding anyone who feels confused or isolated that “non siamo soli a provare disagio.” A remarkable work that deserves sincere applause.
