THE REVIEW

Degrade is a band from Sweden that delights the ears of brutal listeners with this Full Length dated 2006, 'Lost Torso Found'.

The genre offered is heavy Brutal Death, which is very fashionable today: guttural vocals, scratchy guitars, intricate riffs, cavernous bass, and continuous blast beats from the drummer. These albums are especially appreciated by fans of the genre like me, who devour these albums for breakfast. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this album, especially by the singer's voice, rotten and gurgled in an impressive way. Moreover, the album's strengths are its compelling rhythms supported above all by excellent production. Tempo changes, furious drumming, and compact, intricate riffs flow through the 9 tracks of the CD. The lyrics obviously concern the usual gore nonsense that perhaps slightly ridicules the genre, but to which we brutal enthusiasts are still attached. In fact, as happens with all musical genres, Brutal Death inevitably falls into the repetitive, even if, from a strictly musical point of view, there are many experiments and differences between the various bands.

The band in question represents one of the somewhat overused sides of the genre in recent times, which is Slam. These bands, largely inspired by Devourment and company, play a Brutal almost completely detached from Death Metal, with a very guttural voice and a compressed sound. Many criticize this movement by making statements like: "What a drag, there are too many!" or: "They all sound the same." However, Degrade really tell us something, and they are greatly influenced by classic Brutal Death as well as Slam (to which they only partly belong). Let's say they are one of those bands that are in the middle; they simply play a beautifully heavy Brutal Death, without neglecting technique but also not ignoring the sonic impact, and Degrade surely do not fail in this aspect. They are indeed an excellent band that will definitely reserve great surprises for us, and this album demonstrates it fully.

Long live the underground Brutal. Greetings to all
