The Defleshuary could win not only the title for "The Most Unknown Band" but also that of "Most Old School and Rotten Brutal Death Band." In fact, this Zombie Plague Rampant Horror, released in 2007, is proof of that. Brutal Death, that's for sure, but with elements that tend heavily towards Old School Death Metal.

Even the cover explicitly expresses what the band has to offer, which is raw and straightforward music. Many might say, "How many damn bands like this exist?" That may also be true, but when you think about it, how many Progressive Melodic Deathcore Ultra Technical bands exist, and how many truly have something to express? Personally, I don't love the modern sound, often loaded with technique for its own sake, or productions that sound like plastic. Despite this, many of those albums are praised by critics and websites related to the genre, which often overlook the ultra-underground groups. The crux of the matter is: Ok, it's not an original album, but not all bands have to experiment to nail an album.

These Defleshuary are more Old School than my grandmother, despite offering a Brutal Death Metal, but they should still be considered. The album is characterized by a very sharp, cutting, raw yet illustrative production. The guitar riffs range from Brutal rhythms to more Old School moments, and perhaps more straightforward riffs, but that suit an album like this. As in 80% of the albums in recent years, this one also has many songs with intros taken from famous Horror films, which then flow into blasts of rotten Groove, or double bass drum fury. The work of the Growler is excellent, a low and guttural voice, but not ridiculous like many slam singers who sound like frogs in heat (also due to the vocal distortion). 8 short, precise songs that reach your ears in all their essence without too much fuss. The themes dealt with? Very simple: Zombies, chainsaws, torn bodies, etc., in other words, concrete topics.

I know very well that many people find this extremely ridiculous, but one of the merits of Death (or Brutal, Grind, etc.) Metal bands is their self-irony, the fact that they never take themselves too seriously. So, if instead of watching a Lucio Fulci film, you prefer to enjoy zombie poetry concentrated in an album, then this is for you.
